Human Resource staff and hiring managers are invited to a free workshop that will include employers’ responsibilities under the ADA, a demonstration of current hearing assistive technologies, how to be accessible and inclusive, and best communication strategies in the workplace for deaf and hard of hearing employees. We will discuss how to arrange for requested accommodations, such as interpreters or captioning, as well as myths and truths about deafness and hearing loss. An optional tour of NVRC’s device and technology demonstration room will follow the program.
Time: 8:45 – 9:00 am: Meet and greet. Coffee and light refreshments
9:00 am – 10:00 am: Program
10 am- 11 am: Optional tour – hearing assistive technology room
